SEEKING CAREER POSITION IN PROPERTY MANAGEMENT
Two areas of my experience are directly relevant to Property Management: four years in Community Association Management and eight years in Business and Human Services Management. I have been on the Board of the Hillsboro LeBaron Condominium Association for the past four years; during my presidency in 2005 and the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma, I functioned largely as Manager. I am active in the Hillsboro Beach Alliance; from this and my five years with Lake House South Condominium Association, I continue to glean perspectives on how different associations manage property, finances, and other common issues.
My earlier eight years of management experience include government and private human services, as well as managing my own businesses. I have supervised up to 35 people, done my own bookkeeping and payroll, and managed all aspects of those businesses.
Personal qualifications include a friendly interpersonal manner; a facilitative management style; excellent writing, typing, and computer skills; an energetic analytical mind; a penchant for strategizing and problem-solving for win-win solutions; and an ability to motivate and sell ideas in writing or in person. I am good at multi-tasking, keeping the big picture in focus without forgetting details, and collaborating. I take initiative, produce quality work, and am reliable in meeting deadlines. I speak some Spanish.
CONDOMINIUM ASSOCIATION EXPERIENCE
From 2004 to 2007: Hillsboro LeBaron Condominium Association. Serve on the Board of Directors. Active in and serve on committees of the Hillsboro Beach Alliance to which I represent our Association. In 2005 as President of an Association which had "managed" for years without a manager and in the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma, I had the opportunity to face multiple challenges from within and without. I spearheaded many significant changes designed to bring the Association into closer accord with governing documents and (may I say?) the 21st century. Specifically, in addition to typical presidential tasks, with our new maintenance-oriented new manager, I
*Eliminated old code violations, safety hazards, and maintenance neglect;
*Organized, expedited extensive post-Hurricane Wilma clean-up and restoration;
*Integrated our Wilma recovery with a comprehensive plan for major concrete restoration;
*Initiated computerization of Association records;
*Negotiated a bulk TV contract with security and community channels;
*Created and managed a website to expedite information-delivery;
*Set up an email account and answered hundreds of Owners' letters;
*Became our Association's reference source for our governing documents and statutes;
*Prepared paperwork and notices for all meetings, including the annual Meeting; and
*Functioned as liaison to our Association's attorneys.
From 2002-2007: Lake House South Condominium Association. Part-time in Security/Concierge, Bookkeeping, and Administrative Assistance. This position in an upscale condominium has given me the opportunity, over the years, to face after-hours emergencies and to gain insight into many common maintenance and other property management issues.
